At Bauer, our mission is to go beyond expectations in design, function, and aesthics with any reel we make. When we looked at building our next saltwater and big game reel, we focused on reliability, strength, and intuitive function.

Our vision was clear: Reimagine our timetested, ultra smooth, and classleading clutch mechanism by strengthening the system, harness the power of a carbon fiber and stainlesssteel drag, and seal it in a bombproof package. In the end, our SLT Big Game Fly Fishing Reell is not just built, but born from the flats, jungle backwaters, and off shore environments, specifically for any demanding angler’s pursuit of perfect performance. Yet, our ambitions didn’t stop here.

We set out to revolutionize the way high performance reels should function  a reel that not only offered a powerful drag package, but one that was instinctive, and helped fight giant fish. We found that anglers require a system that delivers an incremental adjustment range with every click of the drag knob. Seeing this void in the market, brought us to true innovation  to build a reel that showcases the ultimate in consistency and performance, yet displays unequaled aesthetics — the pinnacle of success and pride of ownership when fishing in demanding environments.

With meticulous attention to each nuance, we forged ahead, with over four years of prototyping, each iteration honed by realworld experiences until arriving at the intersection of performance, usability, and design.

The S LT’s drag is linear witheve y click, allowing anglers to dial in their settings for the perfec tamount of resistance.
Additionally, the new drag stack features a high and lowend hard stop, preventing overtightening and free spooling.

The BAUER SLT’s drag system is a marvel of function, performance, and simplicity. Utilizing a threaded hub for easy on/of f access to the drag system, the redesigned clutch is labeled for lef t/right hand retrieve, providing anglers with fast and easy change, without the use of any tools.

All internal componentry has been made larger for easy handling, tighter tolerances, and is made to take higher heat and torque that come with fishing for tarpon, giant trevally, and arapaima among others.

Featuring a fully water and debris sealed system, hard core anglers can resteasy knowingt he S LT can with standdays of saltwater, mud, sand, and dirt without fail.

All BAUER SLT internal parts are Type II anodized with 6061aluminum, 7075 aluminum, and stainless steel. The BAUER SLT’s internal and external components resist wear and tear, and will with stand a life time of drops, slams, and overall abuse.
